Tabebuia at Cubbon Park, Bangalore

On 31st December a few of us from BWS (Bangalore Weekend Shoots) decided to go to Cubbon Park to shoot the Pink Tabebuia which was in full bloom. This was the last shoot of the year and we certainly had some fun.

To quote from Wikipedia

Tabebuia is a neotropical genus of about 100 species[1] in the tribe Tecomeae of the family Bignoniaceae. The species range from northern Mexico and southern Florida south to northern Argentina, including the Caribbean islands of Hispaniola (Dominican RepublicHaiti) and Cuba. The generic name is derived from words used for the trees by the indigenous peoples of Brazil.[2]

Well-known common names include IpêPouitrumpet trees and pau d’arco.”

The tree is not native to India and was imported primarily as an ornamental tree in parks and gardens.
